Electrical Fire
This project, although atypical, represents the smaller end of the spectrum. This was a simple short in aging aluminum wiring above a common plumbing chase between two, 2-bedroom apartments. The repairs due to the fire were not extensive although problematic. Upon exposing the attic cavity and viewing the dame in a broader area, it was evident that the fire had completely severed a bottom truss chord completely. Furthermore, the demo to expose the damage also revealed another truss flaw from the original construction. A plumbing contractor had cut the same chord severely in another area. With our structural engineering associates, we were able to document the problems and delineate acceptable solutions in a cost effective and timely manner.
